Walking - Lough Shannagh

1

This is a difficult walk with steep paths and loose underfoot in dry weather.  The walk takes its name from the Lough which has formed at the summit of Slieve Lough Shannagh, meaning lake of the foxes, and brings you into the heart of the Mourne Mountains.  The Mountain overlooking Lough Shannagh is Doan, known locally as Poverty Mountain, the rocks on the face of the mountain spell out the letter POV.
